Congratulations to all our athletes on finishing Third Overall in the Inter-School Athletics Competition 2022-23!

Our hearts and minds still resounded with cheers and applause as we all witnessed how hard it was to climb one place up from last year – surely, we were excited to see our A Grade athlete breaking his personal best and became the new record holder for U18 1500m by clocking 4:02.02. More significantly, we were glad to see the overall efforts being sustained by our promising B and C Grades sports boys, with the latter sweeping 3 golds in 100m, 200m and 100m Hurdles.

We are grateful for our evenly matched rivals, who keep stretching our limits in every way, physically and psychologically – making the competition against them essentially a competition against our own selves. We are grateful to have them for bringing out the best in us.

With all the ups and downs we have experienced in the Inter-School Athletics Competition every year, we, as sportsmen in Wah Yan, find the experiences more rewarding than anything – because we know that it is not triumph, but the struggle, that makes life meaningful.
