Donation of 3D-printed Face Shields
During the prolonged class suspension period, learning at Wah Yan has never ceased and more importantly, we are very happy to see that our fine young gentlemen have been engaging actively in self-directed learning.
As such, our STEM team students took the initiative in producing face shields with 3D printing technology for donation to the needy. Fusing STEM skills like 3D modelling, computer programming and laser cutting, about 100 face shields were produced and donated to the Salvation Army Hoi Tai Centre for Senior Citizens.
The significance of the 3D printing production lies not in the face shields per se, but in the care and compassion that our students demonstrate through it. Equipped with the theories they learnt from teachers and self-directed learning, our students care to put their knowledge and skills into practice to support a good cause at this difficult time – and we are very glad that they live up to the spirit of “Men for and with Others”.
