Our beloved Fr. Séan Coghlan went peacefully to the Lord on 2 September 2021, at St. Paul’s Hospital, Hong Kong, at 3:17 a.m. due to cardiac failure and other complications.

Fr. Coghlan was born in Limerick, Ireland, on 29 October 1933. He entered the Society at Emo, Portarlington, Leix, Ireland, on 7 September 1951. He was ordained to the priesthood on 29 July 1965, in Milltown Park, Dublin, and professed the final vows on 15 August 1970, at Wah Yan College, Kowloon.

Fr. Coghlan was the Principal of Colegio Mateus Ricci, Macau, in 1981; the Principal of Wah Yan College, Hong Kong from 1988-1996; and the Warden of Ricci Hall from 1997-2010.

Funeral Arrangements
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. on 25 September 2021, at St. Ignatius Chapel, Wah Yan College, Kowloon (and will also be streamed live on YouTube). The Mass will be presided by His Eminence John Cardinal Tong, Apostolic Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong.

Burial: St. Michael’s Cemetery, Happy Valley, right after the Funeral Mass.
