Carved in a commission to commemorate the founder of the Society of Jesus, as well as to highlight our identity as a Jesuit school, the statue of St. Ignatius of Loyola finally landed on 56 Waterloo Road in early May, and was set up in the Corridor overlooking the larger world beyond the West Gate.

In this year of 2019-20, we are facing a plethora of challenges in both the Fall and the Spring terms; in a time of the pandemic, we, and perhaps everyone in the world, are probably experiencing a paradigm shift in different aspects in life.  At times, we might feel being left stranded in perplexities, just like how St. Ignatius felt when he, as a soldier before conversion, was severely crippled by a cannonball in the Battle of Pamplona in the 16^th century.

In faith, we march on. 

We hope that the statue of St. Ignatius, posed for one foot stepping forward and one foot raised, with a determined look in his eyes, can inspire our students to move, adapt, and improve to meet the needs of the times, living up to the spirit of Men for and with Others.
